Cloud Bookkeeping, I Don’t Get it
If you’re anything like me, the moment cloud-based accounting popped up on the scene, your eyes would have rolled. I’m a paper sort of girl, and much to my business partners dismay I’ll always prefer a paper journal rather than iCAL on my phone.
But five years ago, when I first commenced using a cloud-based software program, I fell in love with the ease and simplicity, and haven’t looked back since.
While it does depend on what software you chose to go with, the primary benefits are:
ALL HOURS ACCESS
We’re living in a generation of instant gratification, and while I’m not one to pander to this notion, I am loving the fact that I’m no longer restricted by using the work computer during 9-5 office hours. I can access my file from any smart device, on the go, or from the comfort of my own home. It creates a sense of ease and control.ONE FILE
Gone are the days where you need to update you file each financial year and go hunting for a disc or Hard drive to access an old file. Everything lives online, in a mysterious cloud which you can access at any moment. You know what frustration I’m talking about.COLLABORATION
Your accountant can have advisory access to your file, to help troubleshoot any issues that might arise, can access and review your data at any time and lodge from your file. You can also have several people logged in at the same time performing actions without any detrimental fallout.CENTRALISED LOCATION
Filing anyone? Yes, I know I said I’m a paper girl…but I do simply loathe filing. One of the amazing things about cloud-based programs is that you can store everything in that mysterious cloud. Depending on your chosen software, you can upload receipts, invoices or various documents to any transaction or contact. So rather than flicking through 3 different folders and pulling out an old archived box. You can have all the information you need with a click of a button.
These are just my four favorite Pro’s to cloud-based accounting. If I haven’t managed to sell you on the idea, then get in touch and we’ll show you how cloud-based accounting can change not only your business life, but also your personal life.
Take care
Sarah
